LINDSEY HELTON

Miss Lindsey Alyse Helton is a 17 year old Senior at Middlesboro High School. Lindsey has performed annually at the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival since 2006. Lindsey performs a wide variety of music including pop, country and gospel. Some of her favorite artists include Elton John, Adele, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. Lindsey is an honor student and a member of the Beta Club at MHS. She is also a member of the Middlesboro High School Show Choir and Choir and the All festival Regional Choir.
Lindsey is the former Junior Class President at MHS, the Vice President, Lt. Governor of the K-T Key Club and currently the District Bulletin Editor for K-T Key Club. She also participates in FBLA, First Priority, and DECA at MHS. She was a cheerleader during her first two years at MHS. She attended Stephen Foster Vocal Camp at Eastern Kentucky University this past Summer and was selected to participate in the Honors Recital. From the time she was a small child, Lindsey has always had a passion for music. She learned many skills from her past teachers including piano from Mrs. Bebe Campbell, Middlesboro, Ky, and piano and voice from Mrs. Clara Pope and Ashley Wilson at the Studio of Piano and Fine Arts in Harlan, Ky. Later, she learned to play guitar on her own. She is known as one of our region's best National Anthem singers. She sang twice at the City-County Bowl, in 2009 and 2011. Other performances at MHS include numerous basketball, baseball and soccer games. She always remembers the first time that she sang the anthem, as a fourth grader at East End Intermediate School, during the school's Derby Day event. Around that same time, she was a finalist in the Star Quest Talent competition, held for all Middlesboro Students. She has also volunteered her time at the Middlesboro Nursing Home facility at Christmas time. She was a past winner of the Karaoke contest, sponsored by the BPW Club in Middlesboro. She has also performed at several local American Cancer Society and March of Dimes events over the past several years. Lindsey has leadership qualities and would like to participate in the Leadership Bell County program in the near future.
Lindsey is currently studying Voice with Dr. Joyce Hall Wolf at Eastern Kentucky University. She will also be performing as one of Dr. Wolf's students, at Morehead State University in October 2011. Lindsey wants to pursue a major in Music after high school. Her future plans include auditioning at the University of Tennessee, the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville and Eastern Kentucky University. Lindsey will also be auditioning for All State Choir in the next few months. This year, Mr. Jerry Hensley from Middlesboro, Ky will provide accompaniment for Lindsey on guitar. Lindsey is the daughter of Tim & Sherri Helton of Middlesboro, Ky. and the grand-daughter of Ola Vay Halburnt of Harlan, Ky, Esther Helton, Middlesboro, Ky, and Jimmy Helton, Hamilton, Ohio.
