Category Descriptions
(All categories for color pictures
except black and white open)
People – Any photograph in which the main subject is a person. The photo may be posed or candid.
Landscape – Any photography in which the main subject is scenery. This includes sunsets, structures, or other similar views.
Cumberland Gap
– All photographs in this category should reflect vividly the
Plant World – Any photograph in which the main subject is plants, flowers, or other similar scenes.
Open – No requirement except that the photo does not fit in any other category.
B & W Open – All Black and White prints will be judged together on their artistic impression, quality of photo, creativity, and difficulty of shot.
Conditions of Entry
Photography Competition is open to amateur photographers of all ages.
Print size should be no less than 5x7 (inches) and no more than 8x10.
Prints MUST be matted and/or
framed.
Mats and frames will not have an impact on judging.
By entering photographs into the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival
Photography Contest, the photographer agrees not to hold the Fall Festival or
any of its participating sponsors responsible for lost or damaged photographs
and/or mats and frames.
Judging will be based on
Photographic Quality – The technical correctness and difficulty of shot.
Composition – The arrangement of subject matter for best effect.
Originality – The eye-catching appeal to the greatest number of people.
Relevance – How the photograph subject relates to the category in which it is judged.
The judges have the right to place any photograph in another category at their discretion. First, Second, and Third place ribbons will be awarded in each category. The first place winner in each category will be entered in and judged for the “Best of Show” award.

**Ribbons from last years' winning entries can be picked up on October 15, 2007 at the Middlesboro Mall Management Office.
