Quilt Block Contest

A Quilt Block Contest will be a part of the
Fall Festival

The quilt blocks, 12" X 12" in size, should be in fall colors.
Prizes of $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place will be awarded to
the winners at the festival.  Rules for the contest are as follows:

1. Use only pre-washed and color-fast 100% cotton or cotton/polyester blend fabric.  Each block must be in fall colors (solids or prints).  The block must be a pieced pattern and be hand pieced.  You may choose any style pieced pattern.  You may not enter a block that
has been cross-stitched, counted cross-stitched, appliqued or embroidered.

2. The finished size for the block is 12”x12”.  You will need to add a ¼” seam allowance all around so that the block can be stitched into a quilt.  The size of the block with the seam allowance is 12 ½” x 12 ½”.  Do not use heavy padding in the block design.  Do not quilt the block because it may become part of the Festival Quilt.  The Festival Quilt will be made using blocks from the Quilt Block Contest, and will be raffled off at a future date,
with proceeds benefiting the Festival.

3. Please be sure that any trim you use can be laundered.

4. There will be first, second and third place winners.

5. All blocks will become the property of the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival Committee and will be on display at the Festival.

6. You may enter only one block per person.

7. Entries must be brought or mailed no later than September 28, 2011 to:

The Middlesboro-Bell County Public Library
126 South 20th Street
Middlesboro, KY 40965
